McMillan residence

The McMillans are exceptional! They see the value of building on their sustainability initiatives. For years they have been making a handsome profit from a previously under-utilised roof of their Hawthorn home . A recent opportunity to put in a workshop and bungalow in the back yard meant they could exceed their own previous best.  They stopped at nothing short of excellence.  Its a beautiful structure in the back corner of their yard with well considered appointments and a bio solar roof.

The back yard already has a tank under the entire lawn area.  The roofs are covered in solar panels.  We were engaged to help out with a 70m2 greenroof on top of the new bungalow workshop which will integrate with solar panels, reducing roof heat and increasing solar panel efficiency.

As the winter emerges into spring they will do a second layer of planting.  Until then the roof serves as a sealed roof for lockup of the building as the continue fitting out the interior.  Apart from the direct benefits they receive this is another great environmental benefit the McMillans can add to their list of global contributions at little more than the cost of a traditional metal roof.
