The owners of this beautiful home in Brighton came to us with a collapsing fence and a desire to use their landscape all year round. With teenage kids it was time to make all spaces useable, fun and capable of entertaining guests. Critical to the utility of the space was a distinct lack of shade given the north western exposure. The design set up useable shade by extending the existing pergola and planting summer shade trees while maintaining sun on the pool surface.
A keen interest in the decorative aspects of vertical gardens with knowledge of the potential to cool walls and make space more amenable to human thermal comfort.
An outdoor BBQ space needed utility for winter undercover stationary cycling station with cooler surface material and entertainment space with luxurious wall details and furniture.
Design for a previously disconnected northern courtyard was to recreate a link with the pool area. This resulted in a sunken conversation pit where teens can gather while the younger kids can still play amongst established vegetation or enjoy the trampoline.
