Hooker residence

The design and construction of this productive vertical garden for a newly retired couple in a Richmond terrace house.  Client lifestyle desires, creative inspirations and practical day-to-day management expectations were key design drivers for these vertical gardens. The design includes a fully automated watering and fertilising system.

The layout and utility of the garden ensures grandchildren can participate in caring for the gardens. From planting and moving carrots from bunches to rows, visiting regularly to watch them grow and enjoying fresh grown veggies straight from the garden.  Friends and family enjoy feasts in the garden and flavoursome winter meals knowing the produce they eat is lovingly and sustainably produced.

The garden involved reuse of found materials, a mixture of herbs and vegetables, two vertical garden systems and sensible urban water management for diverse food production.
